Our team partnered with the Gensler Phoenix office for the design of this new creative space at Gateway Community College. We wanted the graphics and branding within the space to reflect the purpose of this facility; hands on building and creating.
The reception message was created from simple materials; painted pegboard and dowel rod pieces. This created a flexible and versatile solution that can be changed to other messages or patterns.
To distinguish between various prototyping departments within the open floor plan, we created simple over-head signs to suspend over each specific area. We utilized natural stained wood for the material to tie into the interior finishes within the space and create a raw, hand-built asthetic.
We studied the exterior facades and use of super graphics as both a wayfinding solution, as well as a branding and marketing opportunity. The elevation below shows the backside of the building which is where the main parking lot is.
The main street-facing side of the building needed appropriate signage. For best visibility and to meet the city code requirements, we implemented large-scale dimensional letters above the main window bay, a projecting blade sign for visibility from the adjacent street, a large illuminated logo sign, as well as entry door vinyl.
